Sounds and Storytelling

Live music and storytelling come together for a powerful cultural and artistic experience.

The 2026 Sounds and Storytelling Drive-In Concert Series, funded by the California Arts Council, brings seven free, culturally diverse performances to California’s rural Morongo Basin, expanding access to live art where it is often out of reach. Featuring primarily local and regional artists, each evening weaves live music with personal storytelling, alongside live painting or dance.

Guests experience the show from their own drive-in setup, with space for local vendors and food pop-ups that reflect the richness of our region. Rooted in the belief that art and community are essential to a meaningful life, this series creates an accessible, welcoming space for connection, belonging, and shared cultural celebration.

Elevating the cultural consciousness of our desert communities.

Whether a lively Mariachi, a grooving blues band, or a romantic French Jazz ensemble, we bring music to the Joshua Tree region that is not often seen in our rural area. We also book local musicians as part of our commitment to uplift our community.

The Sounds and Storytelling Series is free to attend, but a confirmed RSVP is required. Simply fill out the RSVP form below, and we will be in touch to confirm your spot. Because of the high demand, RSVPs are based on a lottery system, and confirmations are typically sent out a couple of days after the reservation system opens to ensure people have a chance to submit their requests.

  • The world will try to convince you that art is luxury. It is not. Art is medicine. It heals in ways that cannot be measured or explained.
